Eliyahu swore to King Achav that no dew or rain would fall until he said so, and then he had to disappear. He hid in a ravine by Nachal Kerith, near the Yarden, with a stream to drink from. And every morning and every evening, ravens flew in with his food.
"And the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the stream."
Melachim Aleph 17:6
But the drought he had called down reached him too. Day after day the stream ran thinner, until there was nothing left but cracked mud. Eliyahu stood up and looked at it. It was time to go.
"And it was, after some days, that the stream dried up, because there had been no rain in the land."
Melachim Aleph 17:7
