Migdal Bavel

The brick served them as stone.

וַיֹּאמְרוּ אִישׁ אֶל רֵעֵהוּ הָבָה נִלְבְּנָה לְבֵנִים וְנִשְׂרְפָה לִשְׂרֵפָה וַתְּהִי לָהֶם הַלְּבֵנָה לְאָבֶן וְהַחֵמָר הָיָה לָהֶם לַחֹמֶר׃

בראשית יא:ג

"And they said to one another: Come, let us make bricks and burn them hard. And the brick served them as stone, and the clay served them as mortar."

Genesis 11:3

Lest we be scattered over the face of all the earth.

וַיֹּאמְרוּ הָבָה נִבְנֶה לָּנוּ עִיר וּמִגְדָּל וְרֹאשׁוֹ בַשָּׁמַיִם וְנַעֲשֶׂה לָּנוּ שֵׁם פֶּן נָפוּץ עַל פְּנֵי כׇל הָאָרֶץ׃

בראשית יא:ד

"And they said: Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make ourselves a name, lest we be scattered over the face of all the earth."

Genesis 11:4

And He scattered them over the face of all the earth.

וַיָּפֶץ ה' אֹתָם מִשָּׁם עַל פְּנֵי כׇל הָאָרֶץ וַיַּחְדְּלוּ לִבְנֹת הָעִיר׃

בראשית יא:ח

"And Hashem scattered them from there over the face of all the earth, and they stopped building the city."
