אֵלִיָּהוּ בְּהַר הַכַּרְמֶל

Eliyahu at Har Carmel

No voice, and none who answered.

וַיִּקְרְאוּ בְשֵׁם הַבַּעַל מֵהַבֹּקֶר וְעַד הַצׇּהֳרַיִם לֵאמֹר הַבַּעַל עֲנֵנוּ וְאֵין קוֹל וְאֵין עֹנֶה וַיְפַסְּחוּ עַל הַמִּזְבֵּחַ אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה׃

מלכים א יח:כו

"And they called on the name of Baal from morning until noon, saying: Baal, answer us. But there was no voice and none who answered, and they danced about the altar they had made."

1 Kings 18:26

And he said: do it a third time.

וַיֹּאמֶר מִלְאוּ אַרְבָּעָה כַדִּים מַיִם וְיִצְקוּ עַל הָעֹלָה וְעַל הָעֵצִים וַיֹּאמֶר שְׁנוּ וַיִּשְׁנוּ וַיֹּאמֶר שַׁלֵּשׁוּ וַיְשַׁלֵּשׁוּ׃ וַיֵּלְכוּ הַמַּיִם סָבִיב לַמִּזְבֵּחַ וְגַם אֶת הַתְּעָלָה מִלֵּא מָיִם׃

מלכים א יח:לד-לה

"And he said: Fill four jars with water and pour it on the offering and on the wood. And he said: Do it a second time; and they did it a second time. And he said: Do it a third time; and they did it a third time. And the water ran round about the altar, and he filled the trench with water too."

1 Kings 18:34-35

The fire of Hashem fell.

וַתִּפֹּל אֵשׁ ה' וַתֹּאכַל אֶת הָעֹלָה וְאֶת הָעֵצִים וְאֶת הָאֲבָנִים וְאֶת הֶעָפָר וְאֶת הַמַּיִם אֲשֶׁר בַּתְּעָלָה לִחֵכָה׃

מלכים א יח:לח

"And the fire of Hashem fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench."
