Two travelers reach the gate at evening, and one man rises to meet them.
וַיָּבֹאוּ שְׁנֵי הַמַּלְאָכִים סְדֹמָה בָּעֶרֶב וְלוֹט יֹשֵׁב בְּשַׁעַר־סְדֹם וַיַּרְא־לוֹט וַיָּקׇם לִקְרָאתָם וַיִּשְׁתַּחוּ אַפַּיִם אָרְצָה׃
בראשית יט:א
"The two angels came to Sedom in the evening, as Lot was sitting at the gate of Sedom. Lot saw them, rose to meet them, and bowed with his face to the ground."
Genesis 19:1
From young to old they crowd the door, and they are struck blind.
וְאֶת־הָאֲנָשִׁים אֲשֶׁר־פֶּתַח הַבַּיִת הִכּוּ בַּסַּנְוֵרִים מִקָּטֹן וְעַד־גָּדוֹל וַיִּלְאוּ לִמְצֹא הַפָּתַח׃
בראשית יט:יא
"And the men at the entrance of the house they struck with blindness, from small to great, so that they wearied themselves to find the entrance."
Genesis 19:11
Sulfur and fire fall from the sky.
וַה' הִמְטִיר עַל־סְדֹם וְעַל־עֲמֹרָה גׇּפְרִית וָאֵשׁ מֵאֵת ה' מִן־הַשָּׁמָיִם׃
בראשית יט:כד
"And Hashem rained upon Sedom and upon Amorah sulfur and fire, from Hashem, out of heaven."
Genesis 19:24
She looks back, and she is left standing there.
וַתַּבֵּט אִשְׁתּוֹ מֵאַחֲרָיו וַתְּהִי נְצִיב מֶלַח׃

"His wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt."
